Estate Elevation
800–1,200m
Kandy & Matale districts · Hill country microclimate
Selective Harvest
Two-year coppice shoots cut at first light. Only shoots with bark thickness 1.5–2.5 mm are taken — thinner bark produces tighter quills with higher oil density.
Hand Peeling
Skilled peelers strip outer bark with a brass scraper, then curl the inner cambium into quills in a single motion. Each peeler grades their own output — accountability is built in.
Sun Drying
Quills are laid on hessian sheets at 800m altitude for 4–6 hours. Controlled drying at ambient humidity preserves volatile oil integrity — no mechanical dryers used.
ISO 6539 Grading
Each lot is graded by diameter, colour, and coil count. Coumarin and volatile oil content are tested per lot at SGS Colombo. Certificates ship with every consignment.
Grade Specification
Four grades. One estate.
Every grade is tested for coumarin content and volatile oil yield per lot. Certificates from SGS Colombo are included with every shipment.
